An Interview with Owen Jurado, Field Technician

Powering Procraft highlights the individuals who bring our work to life—skilled, creative professionals whose ideas and integrity fuel everything we build. Through candid conversations about their paths, perspectives, and the culture that connects us, we celebrate what makes Procraft a team unlike any other.

What inspired you to pursue a career in AV/tech integration? What drew you to Procraft Media?

Owen: I was looking to get into a trade when my uncle Jaime introduced me to AV and Procraft.

What types of projects have you worked on in the past that you’re most proud of?

Owen: My most recent project, where I saw the job start with the custom racks being built in the shop and setting up the camera array. All the way to seeing installed on-site in Washington, then seeing the customer use the system. I was able to be present for the entire circle of the project.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Owen: I like to go hiking and camping as well as enjoying the beaches throughout San Diego and going to an occasional music event.

If you could have any superpower on a job site, what would it be?

Owen: I wish I was able to fly/levitate so I don't have to walk around with a ladder.

What’s your go-to snack or drink when you’re on the road or in the field?

Owen: I always like a post lunch refuel with an energy drink or coffee.

What’s your definition of a job well done?

Owen: A job well done is minimal mistakes made and a perfect landing for device and cabling, with extra time spared for commissioning.

How do you approach troubleshooting when things go wrong on-site?

Owen: Before I start to think outside the box for solutions, I start inside the box for any basic issues.

What do you think makes a great team?

Owen: A great team starts with communication to make sure everyone is on the same page.

What does doing it “The Procraft Way” mean to you?

Owen: To me the Procraft Way is thinking down the line, keeping the next person in mind and doing me best to set them up for success.

What tools or gear do you never leave home without?

Owen: When I'm in the field I always keep a blade/scissors on me.
