An Interview with Aaron Alvarez, Field Technician for Procraft Media

Powering Procraft highlights the individuals who bring our work to life—skilled, creative professionals whose ideas and integrity fuel everything we build. Through candid conversations about their paths, perspectives, and the culture that connects us, we celebrate what makes Procraft a team unlike any other.

What inspired you to pursue a career in AV/tech integration? What drew you to Procraft Media?

Aaron: At first, I didn’t really know what I wanted to pursue until started working with DJ setups for big productions like weddings, quinceañeras, and other private events. From then on, I found my way into this field that I love working in.

What types of projects have you worked on in the past that you’re most proud of?

Aaron: I’m proud of most projects we do since they are all fun and challenging in their own ways, but the ones that sticks out to me is the a Lab Environment for a tech company and Sony Music Publishing studios.

What’s your definition of a Procraft job well done?

Aaron: To me, it means double-checking every step that I and the crew take—making sure all terminations are 100% correct and fully tested, with the final result clean, organized, and easy for the customer to use or service.

How do you approach troubleshooting when things go wrong on-site?

Aaron: First, I start with the problem and check off all the basics—structures, power, signal, breakers, and connections. Then I work my way back through the system to see if a step was missed or something came unplugged. Staying calm is key, and I document as I go. If needed, I will try different cables or ports to rule out defective components and narrow down the issue. Once I have isolated the cause, I either resolve it on the spot or set up a reliable workaround, while keeping clear communication with the team or client.

What do you think makes a great team?

Aaron: A great team is made up of people with a clear mindset and a willingness to help each other out. A positive attitude goes a long way, and when everyone can stay focused, work hard, and still have fun, that’s when the crew really succeeds.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Aaron: Since i’ve became a new father, I love being a family man — going fishing, camping, and having an enjoyable time with loved ones. DJ-ing has also been a big part of my life these past couple of years and it is always fun playing tunes for people to dance to!

If you could have any superpower on a job site, what would it be?

Aaron: I’d want some type of Cable X-ray vision so I can see through ceilings, wires, and studs!

What’s your go-to snack or drink when you’re on the road or in the field?

Aaron: Yellow Gatorade and Corn Nuts (Ranch).

What does doing it "The Procraft Way" mean to you?

Aaron: Working as a team and doing things right the first time, while we stay in a proper manner with all our duties.

What tools or gear do you never leave home without?

Aaron: I take all my tools usually, but if I needed a go-to kit mandatory kit it would be a screw gun, wire cutters, ratchet/socket set, cable tester, and an LED light.
